A different take on the letter grid
Grida is its own game - a modern version of the classic word game Balda - and it makes a great alternative if you enjoy grid-based word games like Scrabble but want something new. It is not Scrabble and it is not affiliated with it. Where Scrabble hands you a rack of tiles to lay down a whole word at once, Grida flips the idea around: each turn you add just a single letter to the board, then build a word through it. That one change turns every move into a small puzzle and a bit of strategy, because the letter you place also opens up the grid for your opponent.
How a turn works
On your turn you drop one letter onto an empty cell that touches a letter already on the board. Then you trace a path through connected cells - horizontally or vertically - to spell a word that includes your new letter. You score points equal to the length of that word, so a six-letter word beats a three-letter word every time. When the grid is full, the highest score wins.
